Key Duties:

  • Prepare and check design and procurement documents, including P&IDs, calculations, data sheets, engineering specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Develop specifications and data sheets for unique, requirement-driven equipment and serve as the technical representative for related purchase orders or subcontracts.
  • Review vendor submittals and manage the technical performance of selected suppliers.
  • Apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, and procedures to support design decisions.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate mechanical components and processes using applicable procedures, standards, and tools.
  • Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts with other disciplines, the client, vendors, contractors, and construction teams.
  • Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals.
  • Provide technical assistance to mechanical personnel and interface with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to resolve complex issues.
  • Support project and construction management by identifying and addressing mechanical requirements throughout project execution.
  • Prepare mechanical engineering reports for clients as needed.
  • Mentor and assist junior mechanical engineering team members.
  • Complete mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
  • Select components and equipment based on specification analysis and reliability assessments.


Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. 
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire.  If you are unsure whether your ID is Real ID-compliant, please check for the star symbol in the upper portion of your driver's license or state ID.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the United States. 
  • 2 or more years of related experience. 
  • Experience in developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), designing chilled water systems, performing pipe sizing calculations, and preparing equipment specifications and procurement documents for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
  • Experience developing custom equipment packages, including skid-mounted systems and specialty items such as security doors.
  • Experience working on Department of Defense (DoD) projects and with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
  • Experience working under quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1 or AS9100D.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
